Ecco Bella All-Natural & Organic Makeup Review

If you’re looking for greener, more sustainable, organic makeup, ya gotta check out Ecco Bella. I’ve been a hardcore fan of this all-natural beauty brand for years, and I’m excited to share some of their gorrrrgeous FlowerColorMakeup with you today. It’s infused with flower wax, which creates a protective layer that keeps your body’s natural moisture from seeping through makeup (read: longer lasting makeup that doesn’t slide off your face in the middle of the day).

Ladies and germs, my #MOTD featuring all the rad Ecco Beauty makeup featured below (excuse my roots and grumptastic RBF; I was sitting near a window and the sunshine was making me all squinty):

Ecco Bella FlowerColor Natural Liquid Foundation, $25.95 – I’m a die hard pressed mineral makeup mama, especially when it comes to foundation, but I love experimenting with all-natural vegan liquid foundations, too. I was actually surprised at how perfectly this shade (“Natural”) matched my skin tone… it can be so tricky color-matching makeup to your skin via the interwebs, but I’m filing this under SUCCESS. It has really nice and natural coverage, it’s lightweight (water-based), and I love that it contains both a UVA /UVB sunscreen, organic herbs, and antioxidants. My only gripe is that it’s kind of a small tube of foundation. I’m not sure how long it’ll last me, but other than that, I frickin’ LOVE this sh*t! Swatched this liquid foundation on my thumb in the pic below ↓.

FlowerColor Face Powder, $30 – OK, talk about FULL coverage. I layered this face powder over their liquid foundation, and I looked “flawless” (in quotes ’cause my sh*t is hella flawed). This shade is “Light” and when I first opened it up, it looked like it was going to be too dark (my heart sank a teensy bit). After swatching it on my fingers (below) and applying to my face, I realize it was another success, y’all – I’m on a ROLL!! I was sooooo happy it matched my skin tone that I literally did a happy dance. I love that this powder is talc-free and is made using flower wax-coated pigments. It’s also loaded with green tea extract, aloe vera, and vitamin E for some extra skin-lovin’ yumminess. Btw, it comes in a recyclable paper compact with a mirror and puff, but I used a big ol’ fluffy powder brush to apply this instead (for even, more controllable application).

Soft Eyeliner Pencil, $17.95 – Y’all like my eyeliner doodle in the pic below? 🙂 From EB’s website: “These eyeliner pencils are rich in palm and palm kernel glycerides to help draw a smooth, flawless line to define your beautiful eyes, softly, without pulling or tugging.” I love the idea of all-natural eyeliners, but this one was a bit hard for me to apply. It took quite a few back-and-forth swipes in my waterline for the color to take. I can’t help but wonder if it’s a cold-weather sitch and whether or not it glides on like buttah in the summer. No clue. I’m tempted to do the ol’ lighter trick to melt it a bit.

FlowerColor Natural Eyeshadow in Smokey Mauve, $14.95 – This shade is officially one of my über faves!! It’s perfect for casual daytime wear or a night one the town. It’s subtle yet sexy, it applies effortlessly, and it perfectly complements my hazelish eyeballs. It’s also enriched with flower wax to prevent moisture from migrating from the skin, helping the color to stay put throughout the day.

FlowerColor Natural Blush in Coral Rose, $15.95 – This blush is silky smooth and gives cheeks the perfect amount of flirt. As you can see from the pic at the top of this post, I’m not shy with my blush. The color is buildable (be as subtle or loud as you like), and I feel like this particular shade probably suits most skin tones. The all-natural ingredients in this talc-free blush include sweet almond oil, natural pigments, flower wax, and vitamin E.

Organic Organic Ambrosia Eau De Parfum, $30 – I would like to preface this section by stating that Ecco Bella’s Bourbon Vanilla perfume (not the one I’m reviewing here) is one of the dreamiest & most delectable scents on the planet. I’m a huge vanilla fan—HUGE—and I have a LOT of vanilla perfumes, and EB’s is the BEST – absolutely no question.

That being said, the bar has been raised for all other scents that my sniffer encounters. Their Ambrosia perfume (pictured below) is a mixture of Egyptian geranium, black currant bud absolute, Bulgarian lavender, ginger, cardamom, clove, patchouli, and vanilla… quite the blend, no? Btw, EB only uses real essential oils from flowers, fruits, herbs and spices in their perfumes (zero “fragrance” or nasty, toxic sh*t). Anyhoo, when I read the description, I was pretty blown away – so many of my favorite scents rolled up into one. It’s kind of hard to describe the actually scent when you’re wearing it… Imma try. It’s smells floral, fruity, a bit like foreign candy, nostalgia, and spring. I like the scent, it’s definitely unique, but my heart is in a committed relationship with Bourbon Vanilla.
